Immigration Law

For over 200 years, people from around the world have been coming to the United States for various reasons.  Some have done so to escape persecution, some to be reunited with family, and some have come for business reasons.  The motivation behind modern immigration to the United States has not changed over the years.  What has changed are the ways in which people come to the United States, and the immigration laws that regulate their ability to enter and remain in the country.

It is important to consult with an attorney who knows the available options before deciding which migratory path is the most appropriate for your case.  The immigration regulations determine which options exist in each particular situation, for example: your reasons for entering the country, if you are present in the country or are still planning your trip, and the details of your personal background.

In certain circumstances, the violation of immigration laws results in government action against individuals.  Sometimes this is due to changes in the laws, sometimes it is due to having received erroneous information, sometimes it is due to clerical errors.  Whatever the situation, receiving an adverse notification from the government is a chilling event.  It is important to consult with an attorney who knows the available options for individuals to whom benefits have been denied or who find themselves in exclusion or removal proceedings.
